What does it take to be a mentor volunteer for Big Brothers Big Sisters?
- We are looking for people who care about the welfare of children.
- People who want to make a difference.
- People who are willing to take a few hours of their time to enrich a child's life.
- People who are positive, stable role models who can show a child that success in
life is possible.
How do I become a Big Brother or Big Sister?
- Contact us to receive the following:
- Application form
- Give 4 references
- Do 3 hours of training sessions
- Personal interview
- Brief significant other interview (if applicable)
- Criminal record check
- Home inspection for child safety
- Give other information (as needed)
- Receive letter of acceptance
How do children join?
- Contact us with information on child or children
- Receive letter of invitation from Program Director
- Application, medical, and permission forms
- Do 1 hour orientation session for Parents/Client
- Client personal interview
- Parent personal interview
- Client home visited
- School information from teacher
- Give other information (as needed)
- Receive letter of acceptance
